Audio Snow Ride

This is Audio Snow Ride. An audio game you enjoy best with your eyes closed. It should be played in your browser on your PC. It is not compatible with mobile yet.

❄️ How to play

You are riding a sled down a hill blindfolded. You have to avoid the trees on the hill by listening how the wind whistles through the trees.

When starting the game, you are in the menu. Use your arrow keys to navigate and press enter to select. You can also check your highscore there.

In the game:

• Navigate your sled towards the wind
• Use your arrow keys or a controller to move to the left and right
• If you use a controller: it will vibrate more the closer you are to the passage
• The game gets harder every 2 obstacles you are passing
• You can only make 3 mistakes before your adventure ends
• Your highscore is saved and can be accessed via the menu

It's Christmas Eve and you found a sled under the Christmas tree. Your house is in a valley next to some hills and mountains. Of course, you can’t wait to go sledding but to get a thrill, you decide doing it blindfolded. Soon you discover, that this was not the best idea, you can’t see anything and there are lots of trees on the hill. You have to be careful, not hitting these trees but luckily you can hear how the wind whistles through the trees. You navigate your sled down the hill and pass the trees safely by moving towards the wind finding the passages. Your sled is rather robust, but still it can only take three hits before your adventure ends.

This game was developed as part of the Games for Blind Gamers Game Jam.

The game itself can be played completely blind. It has a visualization but that gives you no advantages. I tried to also cover color blindness and different levels of blindness by using specific colors and distinctive effects like the full screen flashing on success or failure. Still, all this is not relevant for playing the game and it is enjoyed best with your eyes closed.
